What Are We Doing in the Classroom?
Seventh Grade Study Skills discover their individual learning style tendencies, the different levels of knowledge or learning (Bloom's Taxonomy), and research study aides and techniques to help them to be successful in the classroom. They also cover some presentation skills and visual aide guidelines.
Media Literacy is a block (2 regular class periods combined into one class) in which students earn credit for Sophomore Language Arts and Web Design. Additionally, at the completion of the Freshman World Studies (9th Language Arts and World History) and Media Literacy, students are elgible for college credit for Speech through Oakland City University. Currently Media Literacy is reading The Lord of the Flies, creating a children's book to provide strategies for dealing with bullies, learning PhotoShop, delivering impromptu speeches over Lord of the Flies, and discussing the validity of the concept that chaos and fear open the door to the presence of violence.
Yearbook (Journalism) has selected the theme "Where the past and future are present" for the 2010 yearbook. Sales of the upcoming book will start soon. THERE ARE A FEW COPIES OF THE 2009 YEARBOOK still available - $45.00. If you have a picture from any of the ND activities that you think would be a good inclusion in the yearbook, be sure to submit it for consideration.
